English us our career
Kevin
How to correctly describe the relationship between English and our career, I think just one word is enough that is "close".
First, I will tell you a real story, which I have experienced. When I graduated from the university last year. I decided to find a good job in Beijing. So I had submitted a couple of resumes to some companies. A week later, I was happily informed that a famous foreign bank would bank would give me an interview. Then, before the interview, I especially cut my hair and bought a new suit, I was strongly confident that I could pass the exam. When I arrived at the department of human resources of this company with high spirits, I was shocked because of a scenario, which I had not expected; a foreigner was taking a conversation with a graduate like me in English. I knew that my oral English was very poor. I was so disappeared that I did not understand what the foreigner said. I failed inevitably to find a job in this bank. I regretted if very much because I lost a great opportunity, which might not be back again. This experience gave me a lesson that I must master English in order to obtain a good job.
As we all know, with the reform and opening-up, great changes have taken place in china. Connections have been, set up through all kinds of channels between china and the outside world. China and the rest of the world are closer and closer. More and more communication is being made between china and other countries. With the pace of china's entry into the WTO speeded up, china will play an important role on Economy and trade allover the world. China will open its market more and more broadly. It is obvious that much more foreign companies will enter into china's market for investment, of course, these corporations need a great deal of local human resources to lower the labor cost. On the other hand, they also supply a lot of opportunity for Chinese. So, as long as we can easily communicate with these foreigners, a good job is just a piece of cake for us. Everybody knows that people in many developed areas in the world like North America, European Union and South-east Asia speak English. So we had better master English, which is the universal language.
Another trend is coming which is that many Chinese companies become multinational companies. They have more and more chances of business with foreign companies. So if we can speak English, we will have the advantage to grasp the opportunities.
All in all, English is very important for us to find a good job in our career.
